The Régence was a short but colourful period of plentiful change. The strict and formal rules of Louis XIV frames were exchanged for heavily treated cartouches. The profiles introduced heavy ogee curves with only corner- and middle-ornaments, doing away Louis XIV style in-between ornaments.
